Scoliosis

Scoliosis

A Poem by Ruminating Archaeologist
"

There’s a place in between where my vertebrae meet And the notochord supplying a small speck Of pain in my lower back that Makes my eyes water

"

There’s a place in between where my vertebrae meet

And the notochord supplying a small speck

Of pain in my lower back that

Makes my eyes water

Where I can’t quite stand up straight, I’m

Leaning to the side just the slightest where

My shoulder droops and my smile tips up

On the other side, trying to hide it all because

I walk with my shoulders and not my hips

And I talk with my throat and not my lips

But I write with my heart and breath and soul

And I think that’s all that really matters the most.

Author's Note

Ruminating Archaeologist
was thinking about spines. among other things.
I like the rhyme. It's different. Just kinda ended up that way...
read it slower, rather than faster. sounds better.

Very lovely poem. I have scoliosis myself, so this is relatable for me (: Good
