Almonds

Almonds

A Poem by Ruminating Archaeologist
"

been a while since I wrote a poem. started up for next year- my senior year. It's both exciting and scary. but I'll do my best. I just want to make sure I leave without leaving behind myself.

"

have I let my bitterness

get the best of me?

sour tongue and teeth:

I've bitten into this

lemon tree;

hanging free,

but dangling legs,

scared I'll fall.

and I'm stretching out my arms,

but all I catch are leaves,

and all I can do is recuperate-

apologize and try again.

but all I want is to get back

to doing what I should have been.
