Last Christmas I spent alone
In the stillness of this big home
No tv, no table and no bed to lay my head
Family invites were many ,I stayed home instead
Depressed with the hand life had dealt me
I decided to stay home, for some self help you see
Not wanting to spoil their Christmas with my bitter mood
I would stay in this big empty house in solitude
Christmas eve walking the street alone
Looking at the lights that lit up each home
Then a glass of wine by the fireplace where I would lay
Spend my night waiting for the break of day
Christmas Morning as I sipped my coffee
through the back door I saw four deer
In the white snow, playing ever so softly
I see Gods beautiful creatures every day
But somehow this seemed different in some way
I guess I was just glad to be alive to see another day
watching the deer at play I realized
I had just got the greatest gift
For me there is no longer a loving wife
But I still have the gift of life

God bless
Merry Christmas to one and all
