I'll Never Tell

I'll Never Tell

A Poem by A.Lee

I need help

(but I’ll never tell you)

I’m too afraid of what you’ll think

When you realize that I’m not as strong

As you want and need me to be

I pretend to be strong

Every moment of the day

Always hoping when I wake up

I’ll no longer have to fake this smile

To cover up the tears inside

I need help

(but I’ll never tell you)

If I let you see how I truly feel

I’ll bring you down with my emotions

Instead of focusing on yours

So I keep on walking forward

Trying not to see myself

Just like Atlas on bended knee

I must hold up your world and mine

Lest we both come crashing down

I need help

(but I’ll never tell you)

I can’t afford to let you down

So I watch as my soul slowly dies

From the pain I carry inside

I wish there was someone

Who cared for me like I care for you

Who’d let me cry upon their shoulder

And build me up from time to time

Because I’m fading, slowly fading

And I need help…

Huh. This is another stunningly, emotion-centered, heart-relating piece. Many people, I am sure, will relate to this on one level or another, and because it's real, it makes it beautiful and...it's like you've written a symphony without the music.
Beautiful.

Even Atlas got to unshoulder his burden to Hercules for awhile. Have faith, hope and love; courage comes from such bold and righteous things. Great write.

There is such a deeply moving voice of emotion.. of longing.. wanting to be truly loved and cared for.. to be able to be yourself. You express this deep desire so well.. and the distance too..

Easy to relate to. A great, emotional and well written piece. Incredible job. I liked the analogy of Atlas.

This is heartfelt and beautiful. You've laid out your emotions here perfectly. I love the imagery, very well done. Fantastic job! :D

And so indeed it does go, believe me, I know how you feel. Sometimes you have to let folks know you need help, like it or not and whether you should have to announce it or not. Letting things go on too long never works out well. It does get to be too much from time to time when "no one ever takes care of the caretaker" especially when things are particularly stressful. You do a wonderful job expressing emotion with your words and this poem is no exception. I truly hope the written venting helps a lot, but it's likely not going to be enough.

The perils of being the pillar!!!
This is a very well-crafted piece of poetry; its structure and rhyme and flow all worked out very skilfully. The recurring motif of the title words effectively give the poem its central rhythm, and it is executed intelligently.
"Just like Atlas on bended knee
I must hold up your world and mine
Lest we both come crashing down"
..These lines I enjoyed the most of all...The imagery is telling and the idea that this person is doing more than mere Atlas himself puts the weight of the message across with great emphasis.
Very good work.

I really like the self-conversational style you use. The Altas reference is superb!

This poem could break the heart of even the most hardened criminal. I felt reality in the words. You really have a way of connecting with the reader. Anyone the knows a wife/mother could understand because of that alone. Sad but beautiful. It has the feeling of a cool calming breeze.
