Dark Meadow

Dark Meadow

A Poem by Caitlin Lea

I wait
In the meadow
Where we've made
Our bed.

I fall
Restless
Under
The trees

Waiting.
You said
You love
Me

Better--
My stars
Allure you
More

Than the
Fullness
Of Sun.
I wait

Under
The canopy
That your promise
Made--

The darkest
Night
Am I,
For you

Who loves
The blackness
Of me.
I wait

Until I
Am old
And grey
And dull.

I die,
Forgotten.
Morning
Comes,

But you
Never do.

It appears to me he might have already, in a way. Can't imagine someone accepting promises otherwise....but the sunlight, when the stars are shining makes for a hot bed in the meadow. The stars would know that and its possible he does. Where is the herald? Under the haystack, his alarm clock turned on, fast asleep. A nice write!
