Every Day(Mother Earth)

Every Day(Mother Earth)

A Poem by Caleb Benton

Every day I see you gawking

Every day I hear you talking
Every day I feel you walking
Yet every day I’m forgotten.

Every day you all misuse me
Every day you all abuse me
Every day you all rob me
Every day you all forget me

Yet someday I’ll be terribly missed
Because you will no longer exist
But in your fall I will not assist
You’ll kill yourselves and I will persist.

A great poem, we all need to be concerned about mother earth.

Caleb, I love how you captured the mistreatment of mother earth. Have you ever heard the song 'Rape of the World' by Tracy Chapman? I think it will help to foster some inspiration in this poem, so that if you ever decided to revisit it....

I will offer one suggestion, perhaps you could also include your thoughts on how gracious she is. Her role as a protector, nurturer, mother. The feeling I get from this is that she is beaten and angry. But she always has two sides and she can be very forgiving.

Other than that, I really do love it! I think you are pushing yourself outside the box and I can't wait to read more of your work!
