Last Breath

Last Breath

A Poem by Cari Lynn Vaughn
"

Drowning in Sorrow

"

                      Last Breath

Crossing the oceans of my bleeding heart

Wondering alone throughout time

Unable to fathom that I’ve come apart

Suffering punishment for an unnamed crime

Desperately longing to be able to let go

This pain is all that I could ever know

Silence screams echoing inside my head

Slipping beneath the waves    I am drowning

Though I know I already died   I am dead

Release me from sorrow’s sweet grasp

And let me embrace the emptiness

To search for my breath in this last gasp
