Savage Sepia

Savage Sepia

A Poem by Cari Lynn Vaughn
"

An Emotional Drought

"

Savage Sepia

Prairies and perpetual plains

Roll without responsibility or respite

This life full of sorrows and pains

This savage sepia

Keeps me from the flight

Tilling the fields of my soul

Though they are dusty and dry

Nothing left but a big old hole

And no more tears left to cry

Staring at my own face in the photo

A farmer’s wife all worn out

Tired and old is all that she’ll know

Caught in Sepia   The ravages

Of time     an emotional drought
