Adriane's Thread

Adriane's Thread

A Poem by Cari Lynn Vaughn

Adriane’s Thread

Tied to Adriane’s long red

unwinding lifeline thread

I wander round and round

again until the end is found

Each curve and each bend

I must follow with faith blind

Until I can finally comprehend

Until the truth am left to find

When I hit a wall a dead end

With you my lover or friend

I learn from the dangerous mistake

I learn from every tiny turn I make

Negotiating the labyrinth your lies

Choice after moral choice I will face

To each and every challenge I will rise

Knowing that the past I cannot ever erase

I’ve seen this place a number of times before

Gotten lost many times along the spiral way

But I will never lose my internal urge to explore

No matter how many times that I end up having to pay

Every person that I meet along the meandering street

Will help me find a solution come to a final resolution

When the thread unravels and I’ve come to the end of my travels

I will thank Adriane for her thread even if it was all inside my head
