Weeping Willow Silhouettes

Weeping Willow Silhouettes

A Poem by Chris Shaw

No human form casts shadows
across the stillness
as Windsor sleeps

Weeping willow silhouettes
graceful and fluid
in day time

A young girl's crowning glory
teased by breeze,
appears ghoulish by night

Blanket mist envelops
Eton's bank, falling short
of the river

Street lights shoot amber
laser rays over the water
then silence, scarred by

Unexpected chimes at 3.00a.m. as
a fleet of Canadian geese
pass by

Gliding upstream
phantom like, eerie
into the remaining night

if this were a painting, a landscape perhaps because of the detail you have incorporated, it would by definition have to be categorized as fine art .. as it sits on what would otherwise be a blank page, one would be required to unreservedly suggest this page is in its own write a work of art & mightily finely so ..

The awe you've created here is simply extraordinary, Chris. From the silhouettes of the willow to Eton's bank, to the fleet of Canadian geese flying, your every verse fabricated a sense of brilliance that the reader's mind and eye could not escape. Every time I think I've read what is your best thus far, you make me bite my tongue. But this, THIS is something in a class all its own! Much respect and adoration, my friend.

Many thanks Mari for your response. I appreciate your words.

Seems to be a group of random impressions inspired by the stillness of the night. Very descriptive picture illustrating how darkness changes perspective. Consider doing a spell check on the first word of the last line of verse 3.
