Cocktails At Sunset

Cocktails At Sunset

A Poem by Chris Shaw

On the deck of Caryl Anna
Sipping Alabama Slammers
Eyes in awe of setting sun

Flamingo pink greets violet hues
Shots of darkest petrol blues
Surrounding islands in the sky

Reflections on Marina's water
Not a ripple there to alter
All that's peace and harmony

Ducks are dozing, birdsong absent
Heavy is the sound of silence
As the day makes way for night.

Flows like a "waves' song" to my ears, once more your amazing skill at painting with words, allowed me not only to imagine the scene, but to live it too. your emotions are clear in my heart that I was able to be there with You too, in a serene wistfulness ambiance. B.T.W, it's sunset here, no more perfect time to read your graceful words :>

Lovely review Black Jess. Liking your visits. Thank you so much.

Chris, you really know how to do nature scenes. The description of the sunset here creates a veritable painting in the reader's eye. The last two stanzas could be a tranquilizer (if read in coordination with a glass of merlot) for the wired up commuter upon arriving home. Well done, although I thought "petrol blues" was something the western nations get every time the Arabs raise the price of a barrel of oil.

Duuuuuuuuudddddeeeeee....
Is it okay to say I really admire and want to replicate your silly good descriptions of color...?
NOT STEAL...
Just admire, totally...
Do not want to get in trouble again for saying that, but to me, it is a very large compliment...
to have people look-up to and deign to re-create your writing, i loveee ittttt....
I LOOK for how people use colors...
You keep blowing me away and taking this kid to school...
Effing flamingo-pink!!!
Petrol-blue...
Genius...
How have I not heard flamingo-pink in a song yet is BEYOND me...
Maybe I have...
I gotta be like
Neon-pink?
that doesnt work...
UGH
so good, Chris
So goooood...
Alabama slammers, lolol
