Passing Through

Passing Through

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

Inspired by a poet who left a response on a poem of mine, telling me he had never been in love. He wasn't young either.

"
how starved are those who pass on by
who hold no favour for romance
who do not crave another's love
reserved, reticent they may be
who do not comprehend that they
have lost life's purpose on the way
they may have travelled here in time
but oh what moments they have missed
a door locked shut a key won't turn
they came they saw they never lived

That is sad and I can’t imagine. I am a loner by nature but not so much I wouldn’t want love. Although now if I was alone again I wouldn’t seek it. I have my soulmate so that’s it if he goes before me. This is an excellent piece

This is a great poem, written in simple straightforward words. The piece of writing is like looking in a mirror. I know what you mean here. I tried for a long time to live life fully, but never seemed to have the magic pass card. Never seemed to have enough to offer others, to take part in living life. Wonderful how you seem to have the insight into this, while you reside on the other side. Thanks for sharing

Thank you so much Carina. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

A heart felt appeal to live and love to the full while we have the chance. Surely the people you describe have never known true passion. Poetry without love is a poor thing indeed. Lovely write Chris and admirable sentiments.

I agree dear Chris. We miss what we didn't do, didn't say. In old age. We look back and we wonder. Did I do enough for love? Thank you dear Chris for sharing your amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Really?! is it true?!? I don't know I think people have different ways of love and living love, maybe he has his own way not all can be opened and living the high emotions of love, it can be scary to some and they prefer to stick on earth, they feel safe like that, or they have fear of betrayal and hurt, protecting their hearts like that? maybe they lacked love as children so they don't know how it feels or how to give and take? I do also know not all like the romantical essence of lovet, I don't know many things to adress here... I think maybe he did fall in love but he wasn't even aware that he was?

It's better to have loved a little than never to have loved at all. A friend once told me that. I'm still on the fence about that.

I can't imagine one
who has never sought
love; to love and be
love is the essence
of happy life..even
if love is brief and
lost in the end
it's something one
should experience
