Spoken

Spoken

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(For AJ)

"
when your Richard Burton
mulberry silk voice
smooth like crushed velvet
recites my poems aloud
the cacophony at home
ceases and stands to attention

when you slip your tongue
round my English vowels
caress my consonants
embrace my stanzas
then hold my pauses close
you send tingles racing
down my spine

i imagine i am Liz Taylor
dripping in dazzling diamonds
cosseted in cosy adoration
you transform my dishwater words
into jewels of sparkling satisfaction
so thanking you will never
be sufficient

Thank you Dale. My muse had some fun with this piece. I appreciate you.

Chris
even the tetras in the aquarium stand together at attention...
I agree with what is expressed here....having our words spoken as they were is so moving...causes a smile.

Ha ha. Of course they do:))
Chris I have thought this many times. The quality of a proper voice reading makes all the difference in a piece. If each poet could read their poem so others could hear it as it was intended then yes it would come to life.
