Where Is Yours?

Where Is Yours?

A Poem by Cassy Sandow
"

Assignment in class about a place we love

"

The new sun wakens His world with a kiss.

A kiss of colors and warmth,

Bright oranges, pale yellows and vibrant pinks

Are painted across the young sky.

He stretches his rays from coast to coast.

And I, I am below Him. I am wrapped in His

Morning rays that restore life to the once sleepy

Earth beneath Him.

It is here that I am utterly blissful, it is here

That I am washed in serenity.

The cold sand that has yet to be warmed

Falls around my feet as I walk.

The birds chirp their morning tunes as

The winds find their way through my hair.

The waves fight for who can embrace the shore first

As a breath of the salty sea air fills my lungs.

So I sit, I want to take it all in,

To notice how the vibrant morning shades

Are fading into the baby blue that will

Stain the sky until the sun grows weary.

I want to feel His rays grow stronger against

My fair skin. I want to hear the roar of the

Waves that should intimidate but

Instead rock me to sleep.

I lay back and shape the clouds

Into queens, castles and mythical dragons.

And this is how I wish to spend my days.

Right here until the sun weakens and paints

His evening masterpiece that will eventually

Fade to black. Until tomorrow I will say,

But for now, right here is where I wish to stay.
