The Sad

The Sad

A Poem by Firebird
"

My friend Zeitnot introduced me to the Sad....I met that creature last night. I know it well.

"
Sometimes, when I'm here alone,
Bleak thoughts pounce to pierce my head.
Night's assassins, sharpened swords.
Then the Sad comes out to get me;
Pale and ravenous, hollow beast,
Claws torn curtains of my mind.
Devours my soul and bleeds me dry,
Leaves me broken on the ground.

Thanks for the mention!
A bleak description of a universal human experience. I found it very powerful. I especially liked the expressions 'night's assassins, sharpened swords' and 'hollow beast'.
And the last line is a killer.
