forest

forest

A Poem by Joe Kwak

we burned the old barn down

with our lighters,

that we stole from the gas station.

the ashes danced wildly,

under a half moon

excited by flames.

reckless and filled with youth

this world couldn’t contain

our crazed spirits.

absorbed into the moment

we lost sight

of responsible thinking.

festive night fell into festive morning,

and we walked into town

where we became human again.
