My Love

My Love

A Poem by Dante
"

This is not about a lost love but rather about the abundance of love I have towards alcohol.

"
I am the one that keeps you awake at nights
The one that when you sleep you dream of
Forever I will be present, no matter how much you resent
The time spent with me shall forever be your curse
Your first mistake was picking me up
And thinking I would take your pain away
You think you can finish me off but you can’t
In fact you really don’t
Lean on me and I will be your dysfunctional pillar
Filled with cracks and holes to weaken the structure
I will forever be present, no matter how much you resent
Taking you to your fears is what I do best
Making you face your monsters in a pathetic attempt to defeat them
For all your strength and will my presence you will acknowledge
In your darkest days on your darkest hours you will come to me
Your depression is my fuel
Your rage is my match
So watch me as I light the fire that burns you
Watch as I meticulously destroy you
Piece by piece limb from limb
For all your strength and will
I will forever be present , no matter how much you resent
