Misery Loves Company

Misery Loves Company

A Poem by Carole
"

An old adage that remains true today. When we're miserable, being around people that are truly happy gets under our skin. Sadly, it doesn't have to be that way...

"
Photobucket

Misery loves company

It’s so very plain to see

Seeing others happy

Purports a nominal fee

So much barren darkness

And momentous personal pain

Prompts striking out at others

A pronounced regressive gain

Hurt people-Hurt people

It’s all they’ve ever known

A skill they haven’t had to practice

They haven’t had to hone

To counteract ardent sadness within

Not being happy with the person they are

They lower their standard in life

They thoughtlessly lower the bar

With an exorbitant low self-esteem

They cut others down without a thought

In hopes of elevating themselves

Sadly, it’s all they’ve been taught

Blind to whom they have become

Blatantly denying whom they see

Filled with apprehension and fear

Fraught with morose insecurities

Admitting the truth is half the battle

Coming to terms with the negatives within

A change of heart is all it takes

To initiate a new start-and begin once again

This is a powerful statement of TRUTH. So many people don't see themselves
as the person others see themselves to be.

Admitting the truth is half the battle"

The last sentence is a perfect ending to you piece, as well as the begining to being free! ~ Jude xoxo :-)

No truer words were ever penned!!
From my life experiences I see the ones who run others down { DON'T LIKE THEMSELVES }
Sometimes it goes one step further and everything they do wrong,
they point the finger and say they did it what terrible people they are
Sad but we just have to go on knowing we know the truth

I enjoyed this write, it's nice to see I am not alone in this sad world we live in

There's not much I can say here. Those people are out there, and it often ruins my whole day when I get unlucky enough to run into one. Life is short and full of grief. There's just no need in adding to it. Very well put, Carole.

fair comment My Lady Laugh and the world laughs with you weep andyou weep alone
A smile takes less effort than a frown
so why not smile when you feel down
just grin to let your neighbours know
you're not a sad sack so and so

So true a title. When you are in misery, you would always welcome some company. Nicely written. And where is the place shown in your picture? Would love to see that for real! Keep writing! ~KA~

Sadly this is true. Worse is the fact that I can relate bits of it to my life.

Blind to whom they have become

Blatantly denying whom they see

Filled with apprehension and fear

Fraught with morose insecurities

This is me. A reviewers' comments opened my eyes to this for the first time...the fact that I had trouble feeling happiness and hence made an effort to keep myself away from optimistic people and surroundings.

The will to cure depression must come from within. That's more important than medication.
Thanks for posting this Carole. You made me think...

This is so true...their hunt you down and seek you out just to make your life a living hell. No matter what you do or what you say their bring that Misery to you as pay...Sadly, I don't think they know why themselves they bring the Misery to others, I think they just think it's a part of life...Nice write Carole
Good imagery too.

Very true words from both the unsaved (sadly sometimes Christian as well) and psychological stand point. Life is too short for such misery. I always want to help people like that. But then I remember that God is our great physician and turn to him for the answer.

This is FANTASTIC! The message is wise and true and it's so sad when we see people like this. Yes, if only
they would make one little change, they can heal themselves. VERY nicely written! :)
