Through the Looking Glass

Through the Looking Glass

A Poem by Joyce Marie

Look into these eyes
And you'll see the dark
It creeps into spaces
deep inside my heart

The darkest side
withholds the light
A dimming light
engulfed by night

Here in the looking glass
everything is reversed
Outside I'm smiling
but inside I'm cursed

It's hard to explain
but it's plain to see
I've lost my sense of wonder
I'm so far away from me.

Trapped deep inside of me
I'm yearning to get out
The girl in the mirror
is filled with question and doubt

I pretend not to bleed
that nothing really matters
I'm lost in this dream
getting drunk with the hatter

Things aren't what they seem
because it seems I am sand
But everything is reversed
here in wonderland

There is no space in the air
and it seems I'm next to last
Staring at my world
Through the looking glass
