My soul's shadow

Transparent, hushed echoes

in those soft, barren places

and we wander over paths

rarely worn, rarely visible

you are my soul’s shadow    

my reflection in traced tapestries

threaded thoughts we share

as we are woven shade on shade

each color traced over horizons

endless summer firefly flights

the resonance of light lingering

as a memory in the sky’s breath

autumn’s scarlet, hot fire

we walk briskly into the unfamiliar

near enough in our distance

to hear the contrasts of voices

in our world of shared nuance

then over winter wonderlands

and dark skies laced with pearl stars   

that breathe a sweet chill

over silken white landscapes

to make confessions of red tulips

in spring’s resonance rising

where we find our singular step
