As Autumn Sweetly Slumbers

As Autumn Sweetly Slumbers

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

Did walk to the river thus to stare upon a spider weaving there…

"

Did walk to the river thus to stare

upon a spider weaving there.

And water dancing on the stones

romancing them like flesh on bones.

A timeless moment in world’s of fear

to be lost in such enchantments here;

of imps and elves and nymphs and sprites,

glimmers shining with golden lights.

In reflections on the water’s grin

I see the softness of her fair skin.

Now feel her fingers entrancing me

and in lifting-light, I tingling plea,

that she would my enchantment be

and never dream to set me free.

The river’s rhythm dances on

with us in blissful mystery drawn.

Swift spider’s caught the silvery moon

as autumn sweetly slumbers soon…

I have so much to say about this entire posting. First, your graphic meme almost steals the show becuz the saying on it is so apt & clever. Next, I usually do not like it when poets twist the subject/verb order around to suit the rhyme, if it sounds contrived. But this is one of the few times when I'm reading this kind of grammar flip-flop here & there & it jives with your perfectly crafted rhyme & rhythm, as if it were integral, not just a ploy to grab a rhyme. This reads very smoothly & naturally. Last but not least, this poem is everything I live in my wilderness existence, having the gift of being in close contact with all of nature's healing & serenity. In these times, people have lost touch with this level of serenity in many cases, so a poem like this really transports people to a place they might've forgotten, but really need to go (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
