She holds the gun.

She holds the gun.

A Poem by Jessica Lynn Polley

Can't be forgotten, but wont be mentioned...
in the pungent air that is filled with tension.
A bubbling storm right inside his eyes,
as sirens rape the silent night.
She holds the gun, but he holds her heart...
slow draw, quick trigger he will tear it apart.
Her body shudders, her legs buckle,
her hands shake, and her knees tremble.
Her heart skips beats in his vice like hold,
his feet are sure as his steps are bold.
His voice is quiet but the message is loud
He will let go once she puts it down.
Doubt, anger, and a metallic taste...
then the thoughts come at what it would take.
To put a bullet right between his eyes
because she hates the truth but she loved the lies.
But it wont be forgotten, he wont be forgiven
For the fucked up world that he made her live in.
The scars will fade but the hate will remain...
he changed her, he broke her, and now nothings the same.
She can not fix what he has broken...
She can not replace what he has stolen...
She feels dead already, so so should he.
But he has bled already so so should she.
The sirens draw closer, there is flashing lights.
He takes one more step still full of pride.
He slowly takes the gun from her shaking hands...
Sweetly shushing her sobs for this broken man.
He holds her close as he promises dreams...
with his arms wrapped around her someone somewhere screams...
as he pulls the trigger aimed at her back
and the bullet tears through all that they had.
They are found in the street still holding each other
When the bullet through one went straight through the other.

That was an awesome story/poem.
Loved every line of it.
Fabulous imagery, I felt I was part of the scene.
You've got a knack for story telling.
