Talk to the moon

Talk to the moon

A Poem by Jessica Lynn Polley

I would give up almost anything just to talk to the moon,
about the mothers she has seen crying and the lovers she has seen swoon.

I would give up almost anything just to speak with a star,
about the void they call home, and how they have gotten where they are.

I would give up absolutely everything for one more chance to talk to you...
with a thousand questions eating me, there is not one thing I would not do.

You know I have seen beauty in bounty...I have seen pain that could paralyze,
but after a million years of searching I left you... unrealized.

With this knowledge comes regret, but it comes from so very far away...
itching ever closer and daring me to stay.

Stay and wait for you in this place that you call home,
stalking in the shadows far to frightened to let you go.

Memories suddenly have me thinking that you have already left this place,
this place that make my mind hurt and leaves my heart begging to break.

I have managed to convince myself that this punishment is far past due...
this is just the ghost of what you felt...because of what I did to you.

I don't know it's sound very intellectual and painful at times, there is haunting thought that will linger in the readers head when they finish reading this. Really, good work.

These lines are a painful arrow in my heart of hearts

"I would give up absolutely everything for one more chance to talk to you...
with a thousand questions eating me, there is not one thing I would not do."

A very beautiful poem for a really bad moment in my life. Too many losses.

Thank you for sharing it.
