Before I Knew It

Before I Knew It

A Poem by Charles
"

This goes out to all those who love the rough weather...

"

I've found comfort in this storm.

It was an accident.

I wasn't looking for the tempest

but it found me, or rather

it searched me out and

found me comforting, too.

Eyeing me all too closely

at first.  I took on the first challenge

unaware of the invitation ahead.

Somehow, I saw each drop

but not the challenge presented

by rain and wind and electricity.

Every individual drop was insignificant

at least, taken individually, the significance

was minimal.  But the tempest was, and is

much more than individual drops of rain.

So at some point this storm took me in

as if I had always been apart from it

as if I was finally where I should be

and we found comfort in each other.
