Omen.

Omen.

A Poem by M. M. Lovar

The moon shinned like a clump of fireflies that lit up my night,

and brought about careful whispers of a heart, just as luminous.

"The moon is perfect tonight. Do you want to know why?"

Anxiety ridden thrills form within my bones, as I hint for the answer.

"Because, I'm exactly where I want to be."

Explosions hid under my attentively constructed nod.

Eyes became incandescent, invitations.

Those words could have danced through that pale light for eternity,

and a clogged heart would still whisper believe them, on every syllable,

damning down every doubt with it's rhythm.

I escaped in small giggles that slid from my throat.

My cold and shaken fingers gently searched for comfort in stable, gracious ones.

Bodies formed together as if the melody intrigued a magnetic force,

slowly swaying in time, as time seemed to slow.

         ...We got tonight...

I fake astonishment, as I fail to pick apart your steps.

A familiar laugh of authentic trust filled my mind.

I felt a small grin stretch in admiration.

"So, it's us against the world, is it?"

Smiles and heartbeats drown.

I immediately realize my mistake.

I gracefully come to a complete stop.

        ...Who needs tomorrow?...
