Loves Bitter Tale

Loves Bitter Tale

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A salty dog lover's sea tale

"

- Love’s Bitter tale -

Love’s grown icy,

Bold As a northern

seas Mighty gale

Lover’s sweet tales

Have long since sailed

Where hot raging fires

Once danced and devoured

Dense, hearty wood

Only an empty charred

Pit remains

Bittersweet dreams

Of yesterday haunt and seize

At crack of dawn

Gentle tears roll and flow

As violent sobs are drawn

Holding Back

A tumultuous

Flood of emotions

That Her fragile

levee contains

Till morning bluebird

Sings her Ginger

morning dew song

Lifeless lovers

Repressing the

Passing of

A passion

That has

Since passed

Along

Leaving hearts flaccid

And bodies

Too frigid to hold

At Last

Their love has

Grown cold

And should a person drown in loves sweet embrace, or try and swim against the current, the cold embrace of waters deep has quenched many a raging fire. Throughly enjoyed

I like the use of alliteration in this poem. Also good use of contrast throughout. Very visual and potent word usage
