you're alive

you're alive

A Poem by chr66is

it makes me sad to

think about your

mixed-up past, clinging

to every seeming

security that came past

as you passed through

life, hurled into this

vast world from a past

teeming with betrayal

and insecurity, wearing

your needs on your

sleeve and believing that

something would come

at last and cast the demons

out of your fragile mind,

holding fast to the hope

that you might find a

kind-hearted soul who

wouldn’t seek to use or

control you, to mold you

into something you’re

not until your stomach’s

tied in knots and you’ve

got to climb out of your

hole before your soul begins

to rot, but you’re no longer

a slave to the shame

people gave you from way

back before you were sure

that you didn’t deserve

the hardships that seemed

reserved for your life, from

your birth to re-birth when

you realized your worth

and decided to turn your

back on the things that

harmed your spirit and

attempted to destroy your

mind, and i’m blessed

today to be able to say

that the open arms you

were looking to find

ended up to be mine.
