Another Second of Freedom

Another Second of Freedom

A Poem by Angela Mulley

I know this moment
will never be just the same.
-For me anyway.
And so she turns.  Spring.  Like a
gush of wind, or a
sidways glance.  Not quite the dance
across a ballroom
for one so timed, but still.  I'd
barely drew my breath before
summer arrived.  Now
here, where I begin - to turn
outside in, as the
leaves float downstream, and I
grab my paddle before
she disappears.  Frame to frame,
latching as autumn wanes.
And time, she wins her release,
setting me free, yet again.
