Inner Light

Inner Light

A Poem by Corey J. Mckenzie
"

Should be entitled, "Why I do what I do."

"

INNER LIGHT

Calling out to the deaf

Seeing with the blind

Walking with the disabled

Living with the dead

Speaking with the demons

Crying with the angels

Experiencing every emotion

In an effort to seize this life

To reach out for someone

With no hand extended to you

To ask for understanding

From those who won't even listen

I peer into the darkness

Trying to find it's inner light

Taking the path less travelled

Suffering today for wisdom tomorrow

Self-inflicted pain

Just to know how it feels

An open mind to absorb the surroundings

An open heart to not lose touch
