America: A Perspective

America: A Perspective

A poem I wrote about America for school. Please revise it!

If the achievements of a country were anything to prove of its greatness,

I would mention the first man on the moon, or Olympic triumphs.

Wishing I had just stayed in figure skating a little longer, and master that jump.

That could have been me up there on tv.

I would list companies I see on my way to school:

Google, Apple, Facebook.

Their large buildings haunt me and force me to become filled with regret,

because I know that I don’t stand a chance.

Schools, schools that are so competitive that the very mention of their name causes some to simply shudder and become filled with regret.

We revolve around a constant need to be the best.

Always having that falling feeling in your stomach, for not finishing that assignment or studying for that test.

Olympic triumphs, companies, inventions, technology

Greatness does not allow a moment to pause and imagine

What could have happened
