Someone CaresA Poem by George LoveAmbulance, Fire, Police...the siren matters not
Someone Cares
Deep into the night
They sleep in restless dreams
Numbed from day of endless requests
Countless times they done this task
And broken the silence of cool night air.
Whether pain or illness
They ask not for either
But answer each as if it were first
Blaring, blasting and cutting the deep night
Asking from others a second of time.
Count you that breach
Of peaceful bliss
As rudeness sent only to you?
Return you to slumber
They go on without such.
Mind what they request
And let them pass by
Answering calls from strangers no less
Angered are you as the lights cut the night?
Maybe one day, for you they will come.
Yes, now think on that time
As you wait for the answer
To the call you’ve made
Desperate for help are you
Facing the Reaper while hope fast fades.
Unknowing or uncaring, all same
Ask not why that siren blares
Or lights blast darkness away
For that siren’s blare
Means someone cares.
