How To Walk the Dog

How To Walk the Dog

A Poem by Conrad Wrobel
"

I wuv my wittle dogggy! ^^ He's just an iddy bitty Great Dane...

"

If you wish to walk

         the dog,

                   you must

                            prepare

                                     for a long and extensive

                                               journey.

Be aware that this will involve the investigation

                                                                                                       of every interesting object,

                                                                                                                both stationary and moving.

Pack enough food to last

                   several months,

                            both for you and

                                     the dog.

                                                                 You must own a dog

or a canine-like animal to attempt

                                                                                                                this indenture.

A walk usually involves

                   the dog tethered

                                     to you

                                               with a strand of rope

                                                        known as a leash.

                                                                                    In some cases,

                                                                                             you may tether yourself

                                                                                                                            to the dog.

Beware when walking next to

         the dog:

                   it may mistake you

                            for a tree.

                                               I recommend that you wear

                                                                                             rain pants...

                                                                                                       just in case.

The dog will

         do the rest.

                   Routine.

                            Direction.

                                     Speed.

                                                        Alas, no longer in

                                                                                    control,

                                                                                             simply an overseer.

Simply let yourself

                               go.

                                     Enjoy the ride,

                                               ignore the pain from

                                                                           the dog

                                                                                    dragging you across

                                                                                                       sharp rocks

                                                                                                                at 50 miles per hour.

Just have fun-

                            at least

                                                        do it

                                                                           for your dog!

Woof! This ingenious little shaped job reminded me of a very skinny whipped which took a leak on my leg last August. I saw the horror on my family's face before feeling the damp warmness aroun my right ankle. The dog even looked up as if to say 'So?'

Nice piece. I can so see this happen. Like my dog zigging and zaggin around in no particular fashion . I like the flow of how it reads. And I love the part about the dog dragging you over sharp rocks at 50 mph. Soooo very true to life.

Very funny. A great story. Most people make the mistake of letting the dog be in charge and it always ends in disaster. Wonderfully and uniquely written. Great job.

This is quite funny and I see the seriousness of it as well...especially that part about being mistaken for a tree. Only someone who loves their dog could have written this. Great job.

This seemed like a forbidding tale and although it sets the stage for a serious piece it becomes very funny in the way it is told. Great job.
