Thanks To You.

Thanks To You.

A Poem by Shannon Math
"

Something I thought of just listening to a song.

"
You were mine.
Until she took you away.
What did she have that I didn't have?
Looks, brains, personality difference?
She is better than me right?
Is that why you chose her?
Did she coax you or did You do it out of your own free will?
Either way...
You ripped my heart in two.
All thanks to You.

I've felt lonely ever since you left.
I took comfort in drowning in my sorrows.
People think I have a bad case of depression...
Nothing can get me out of this state.
All thanks to You.

I've cried so many tears since you left.
Stayed up all night,
Thinking of what could've been.
Held myself together, just in case my fragile self...
Fell apart.
All thanks to You.

I've had many guys asking me,
"Do you wanna go out?", "I like you, so um...maybe we could date?"
I declined all.
Afraid they would do the same thing You did.
Their hearts are all broken,
All thanks to You.

I've got so many things to say.
Do you know how hard it is to get over you?
Don't you know how hard I've tried to get you outta my mind?
It never got better as each day went by...
Now that you're gone... I've got nothing to lose.
All thanks to You.

It's a little too late, I'm a little too gone.
A little too tired of just hanging on.
I'm letting go while I'm still strong enough to, even though it's just too sad.
I'm a little too blue, It's a little too bad.
You were too good to be true,
It was all thanks to ME that I fell for you.

and all of this happened because of one person, I wonder what's so special about this personal now, must be something about him or else you wouldn't go crazy for it, the sense of desperation and sorrow could be felt from line to line, you've done well. I like the last line, it's like you decide that it's your own fault to fall in love even though you shouldn't have blame yourself..

"You were too good to be true,"
Sometime we have great hope and the walls fall in. A very strong poem. I like the internal conversation and the ending. Life teaches us to open our eyes wider and ask more questions. A excellent poem.

THis is so sad, however, you shouldn't let one person, ruin it for you, think of it as their loss, a lesson learned, however, you should keep in mind that their are a lot of selfish people in this world, just be more aware of the hurt one can cause, try to be more open minded about the dating world. Be true to yourself and try not to rush into the whole feelings right away.. Great write..

Love sucks. Thankfully I have been in love, but I may never try out love because of the effect it has on people.
