Anywhere Else

Anywhere Else

A Poem by Invisible Ink

I got caught in the middle
of somewhere and nowhere
but anywhere is preferable
to the wreckage I left behind
me

Without looking back on that
graveyard of discarded parts
floating in the cesspool
of decay and rot behind
me

I closed that door
bolted the lock, nailed it shut
wrote "No Trespassing" in red
threw up a thumb, pulled myself
in

Into the land of the living
and breathing and opening
where I can find a there
where the water is clear in front of
me
