A Poem by Violet Chan

Hurriedly, they dragged me by my hands,
Made me sit in a coffin,
Surrounded by something new,
Called 'the cruel house'.

I couldn't believe my own eyes,
Souls were shattered on the floor,
Broken beauties were hanging around the halls,
Everything smelled fusty,

The cracked walls resembled a person,
A person with dreams
The person was lifeless,
As dreams were floating in the air.

They seemed so hopeless,
"One mistake, you die"
Was all I could hear,
Smiles were injured.

Suddenly, through the open window
Came a dove
Who changed everything
As I stepped out of the coffin

And lead me forward
To a beautiful place
Called 'believe in yourself'.
