Killer B's

Killer B's

A Poem by Crystal L. Test

I hear a distant buzzing,
It's already begun.
Escape seems futile,
As there's nowhere to run.

I see the swarm growing,
They haven't found me yet.
Turning my back to tune them out,
Is seemingly my best bet.

I've been taken in before,
Prone to the critical judging.
But now I'm taking control,
Not swayed by their prodding and nudging.

They make sweetness from nectar,
This is their claim to fame.
But I've realized that someone's loss,
Is the price paid for their gain.

For I also have felt their stinger,
The venom stings and burns.
Steering completely out of their path,
A lesson I finally have learned.

Living in the south and watching the farmers move bee hives into their fields for pollenating..I find it very sad.Our peach farmers have began to cut down their trees..Our American bees are no contest for these mean little buzzers..Nice write and a really nice rythm..God bless Valentine

Cute work. Yes, the quiet hums of gossip sounds like a swarm of bees. And the venom of their words can do more damage than the stinger of the insect - damage that does not heal sometimes.
Great write. Very nicely done.

I think you managed to pull their stingers out with this one. Well written, my friend. You do have a knack for putting people in their place - and you do it so politely too. I mean that as a sincere compliment. I love it when you write pieces on issues that get under your skin. I admire this, 'cause I don't think I could do the same without getting emotional about it. Excellent job!

Very true words presented well in astructure poetic form, My kind of poetry.

The sad thing about gossip is mostly it is not passed on maliciously but still causes untold damage.Although the worts kind is meant to hurt and harm by the originator.

You need to get this printed on t-shirts and mugs! Seriously, if more people read this and learned the lesson that you did, what a wonderful world this would be. I love you use the various metaphors for bees, venom, etc. to give a truth and powerful image of the effects of gossip and gossipping. Because the truth is that this is a hurtful and ultimately a destructive behavior and you never realize how bad it is until you get stung yourself. Thank you for sharing this.

Very cool and so true write... using the sting of a bee in reference to the pain gossip can cause... wonderfully done.

This poem speaks less about being bitten by a bee.. and more towards.. what we fear in life.. almost goes back to that song.. "Once Bitten, Twice Shy". Or.. learn from your mistakes. This is a lesson that many should take to heart.

I like how you make such a big deal about bees. Well there are some of us that are affected by them in adverse ways (allergies), but really it does only hurt a bit. I think it would be cool If you would mention how they die when they sting you in some way shape or form. That would be kind of niffty to say, you hurt me, but your dead. Good write.

Now tell the truth, it was actually a mad flapping, a desperate thrashing, like a whirling dervish or something quite feverish. I know what it's like when the panic comes, I've seen the reaction, when eveyone disappears into their homes, closing the windows by just a fraction.
