Love's echo

Love's echo

A Story by Crystal's Meth

Leah yawned, while stretching out her arms, dramatically. She rested her hands on her hips and stared out her window. It was 5am. The fiery sun was just awakening, and the cold touch of Winter threatened through the glass of her bedroom. She heard the faint song of birds rustling through the leaves of the garden trees, and smiled. This was her favorite time of the day ; where the rest of her house was still, and not yet tainted by the busyness and demands of life. She, cautiously, sipped from her hot cup of tea, and let its warmth dance down her throat and comfort her. Snuggled in bed again, Leah began to write, as the world outside of her awaited the new day.

He was her favourite muse. Often, he was her only muse. The first time she wrote about him, she knew that she had translated their love into a universe that would never die. That was why she did it. She wrote about their journeys, through beautiful confessions of passion and desire. She wrote about the pain it brought, too " and there was a lot of pain, but just as much joy and beauty.

As her feelings for him grew, her words in a diary became letters in an envelope. This was around the time she also first told him that she loved him. With each new root that entertwined them underground, the letters transformed into notes below photographs in a scrapbook. Eventually, this changed to pencil sketches of art, short stories on paper, and then the cyber realm.

This was how she immortalised him. She wanted to be his last, so she carved his name onto her heart with a writer’s ink. Her body craved only his touch and embrace, so she engraved his skin and scent into the safest places of her mind. She etched his words upon her soul, and fell asleep to his messages of devotion and promise.

And when he said goodbye, Leah was left with the years of imprinted musings to torment her nights.

But, he always came back. And that has made all the difference.
