Consanguinity

Consanguinity

A Poem by Phillip Francis

The love we share comes within.

It materialized in the blood that makes us kin.

Separated by miles.

We migrate for smiles.

Time endlessly shifts forward.

Devotion never falters, solidly moving onward.

When life test our resolve,

we rally together to evolve.

Collectively, we relish the seasons.

We laugh and chortle without reason.

Moments can be strenuous.

Displaying feelings disingenuous.

We forgive and forget.

No one in the band poses a threat.

We recognize we only have each other.

This affection we struggle not to smother.

It does not matter what we discuss.

Afar or together, there is always us.
