The Demise of Association

The Demise of Association

A Poem by Phillip Francis

The landscape is restless, the objective is excess.

Strange faces inundate our vision, empathy is lost.

The nation feeds off the misfortune of others, like vultures from a carcass.

Community vanished, we've forfeited compassion and compensated with narcissism.

We marvel at the intelligence of technology as it silently abducts our conscience.

No longer do we feel, instead we relish in the paralysis of awareness.

Silently our passion weeps.

The plight of the band is purgatory.

Oblivious to this transformation, society is severed.

Emotional existence fleets into extinction.
