Fathers

Fathers

A Poem by Liam

You held your vices up on a pedestal,
They towered high above your family and a sane mind.
You picked your priorities from a young age that led you to your death,
Not death of body but of mind.
You doomed yourself to a life without family,
Without real love that keeps you warm at night.
You wanted your demons so you married the devil,
She lays next to you and whispers that you did nothing wrong.
You've found that your life is just a hazy morning that you can't quite make out,
The fog that overcomes your vision. You have your demons, and I have my life.
