Lost In Love

Lost In Love

A Poem by Danny K.

She sits alone too often

While his words pierce her heart like a knife

Alone she sits too often

Crying holding on for dear life

For years she’s been locked up in her cell

For her love has become a prison

Many years of cold and freezing hell

A horizon where no sun has risen

Her master has caused her loathing sorrow

For his wrong she’s taken the blame

And though she will love him come the morrow

Tonight she will weep from the pain

Thumbs up. You have done well to paint a picture of one who is faithfully loyal regardless of whether they are receiving the same, who goes through the motions of what is expected even when they are broken and imprisoned in a world untouched and hidden. You have a good tempo and meter to your words that sing cohesively together allowing the imagery to flow freely and expressively. What I love with poems like this is they way they can paint more than one picture - amidst the love there is abuse, amidst the submission there is oppression, amidst the conformity there is depression. There is a love that has waned over the years yet obligation keeps it fixed in its stagnant state, all the while the other participant oblivious to the needs not being met lives gratified because its not about anyone else but self and if they are aware couldn't care less.
I enjoyed what I read and look forward to more works from you.
