Thank You Ms.

A dream i had a year ago. Just a simple account of what happened.

 

-“Thank you Ms.”

I am amazed, amazed at the thing that happened between you and I..

What a day.

-You arrived early Tuesday morning, Navy blue business suit, silver bangles.

8:39 AM, and my heart was already tangled.

- You stepped onto the elevator.

Pressed number 5.

The elevator was not the only thing on the rise.

-You stepped off and went to your workplace.

I was so glad you did not see the look on my face. (Or the sweat on my back...how embarrassing is that)

I made my way to my desk, I was already late.

-You went to lunch at noon.

And so did I.

Rode the elevator once again...i couldn’t muster a “hi”

-You arrived back exactly when I did.

“How is it that you keep running into me?” you said jokingly.

I forced a bad laugh, shrugged uncomfortably.

-You poked your head in my door.

My jaw hit the floor. Asked me did I have file no. 4.

I said “I didn’t know. But I would look into it.”

-You were working overtime.

And my boss asked me to do the same, I thought it was lame.

Until I saw you working late, and that changed the whole game.

--It is a shame that I could not make the first move.

I could not at all muster what I thought was smooth.

It went out the window with you.

Now back to you.

-You asked me what time was I going to leave.

I made a good joke (finally) and said, “it would be a miracle if I made it before 3!”

Your next statement I could not believe.

-You asked me could I accompany you for a cup of tea.

I said “I donno ma’am.” You begged me please.

And I politely declined.

-You said “maybe another time.”

And slipped me a white square.

And on it, it had your number and a heart written on there.

-“Thank you Ms.”

Author's Note

Trying to incorporate something different as far as using the "you did, you said, you went" theme, i wanted to create that honest soul baring feeling. Let me know what you think.
