A Session Of Depression

A Session Of Depression

A Poem by Not here

Depression is messin'
with our heads.
We're all confessin'.
Despite the therapy session,
we have trouble seeing our blessin'.
See from our facial expression
we have trouble decompressin',
we have trouble with progression,
we have trouble with suppression.
Can't suppress the feelings burning,
all the emotions in us churning.
For happiness we all are yearning,
but depression is concerning.
All of our fears  returning;
there's so much we should be learning.

You say life is not worth living.
Just give it one more chance.
You say there's many chances wasted.
But life is like a dance.

If you fall you get back up,
and you start over in that place.
Because it will always be worth it.
So show me your teary face.

And when the knife cuts in
bloods flows from the skin
and my heart will begin
to go places never been.
And there's a moment when
you want to turn back again.
You don't want to see within.
You don't want the painful sin.
But the cut will still bleed.
You can't help but to feed
all the monsters of greed.
Pain begins to make them freed.
With me you have agreed,
but alone you will proceed.
Turning towards the road, indeed,
will be your most regretful deed.

You say life is not worth living,
but it's like a roller coaster.
You'll have ups and down and pain,
but you won't get put on a poster.

Movies stars may have it all,
but the movies always lie.
They don't have the guts to keep on trying,
but you're stronger than them; don't die.

And you hurt so you cry.
You feel wounded, like you'll die.
Just throw away the knife.
Start a new chapter of your life.

It's not worth it, please, I swear.
There's nothing but sadness in there.
When the blood comes out, so does your life.
Just throw away the knife.

Thank you thank you Dante. Very empowering. I am so glad to have read this poem. (rap maybe?) it was fast and rhythmic like a rap and had a great message with an even better ending. Very strong. Very real. I loved it. Thanks for sharing. Stay inspired :-)

Depression is an ugly beast with many levels of pain and loss of worth. Well penned piece on the depression and it is not the place to end it all, we have tomorrow and the day after that we must welcome and see what will come.

Jut throw away the knife is the perfect summary and ending. A lot of truths in this poem. Well done Dante.

there are many types of depression, this one allows hope, working on the solution whereas some forms you are just a shell or a zombie! Fast flow with the rhyming Dante

Depression causes many affected by it to abandon hope and give in to its symptoms and loss of control. You describe these feelings very well while holding out hope to those in its grip. Very nicely done, david! take care and Merry Christmas...dan

I have a great respect for your rhyming ability. Every poem i read of yours it gets better. :) I have a friend that was overcome by depression and I think this shows that in a very interesting and accurate way. To feel wounded is very accurate, I would say.
