Pain

Pain

A Poem by Dawn McKinney
"

I wrote this in 2002 for my husband who has suffered with a joint disease since childhood.

"
You've given such beautiful things
Filled this world with peace and dreams
I've never known what all was great
Until I found my wonderful mate
He's the best, and I love him so
But something about him, I'll never know
As dear and sweet as he can be
Why can't you hear his only plea
I hate to see his pain so much
Please cover him with Your gentle touch
I want happiness to fall in his heart
To let him know You'll never part
I want to take care of him like I was meant to do
He thinks he's useless and can't understand
Please cover him with Your gentle hand
The pain he feels, the tears he cries
I can see it all in his precious eyes
Please God, help him, let him see
Take away his troubles, let him be
I hate to see this, I really do
Please tell me Lord, this isn't true
Take away his pain, it's all I ask
Please cover him with a healing mask.

This is an extremely touching tribute to your husband. I could feel every emotion emanating from your words. This is very well written, and flows naturally for the most part. the only part that I felt didn't flow very well was the line "I want to take care of him like I was meant to do" The ending to that line doesn't really fit in with the pattern that the other endings do, and it feels too wordy.

Other than that, this is a perfect homage to your husband. Fantastic work, sincerely! :)
