Stray Bullet

Stray Bullet

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Click click… Cocked and loaded

Bang bang… traces of gunpowder voices

Is all that is left inside your head.

With no bullet proof vest

Innocent memories become… Victims

DOA or life support

Doesn’t really matter

Cause even with survival

Means changing your name…

To protect yourself from what you seen,

Going from bystander

To the only witness.

All it took was one stray bullet

To change your name.

Such a sobering thought. Isn't it strange that things that were meant to protect and help us are the very things that can that can take our life away. I love the fact that you have brought out how an inoccent bystander can become a victim simply by being in the wrong spot at the right time.

I love the simplicity of the poem that takes us on a complicated journey. You have said so much in a few words. Something very hard to do, yet you have done so.

A very beautifully written poem with a sobering thought.
I love it. as I love all your work.

It can be a scary world out there. Being at the wrong place at the wrong time and in an instant your life can change forever ... wonderfully written ...

Excellent write. My grandfather was killed by a bullet before I was born, so this kind of hits home for me. Thank you for sharing. Debileah
