The 5-7-5 form is perfect, but technically this is senryu not haiku since haiku can only be about seasons and spirituality or something like that according to haiku experts -- which I am most definitely not one since I've written my fair share of ones like this. So how about American haiku...we'll make this our form and let the traditionalists have their own. :)

as to the poems structure Haiku's are 5 - 7 - 5, as this is your first atempt. Well done!! (personaly i find them really hard, so i really do them.)

I love it. you keep it simple - in words - and it evokes the most complex feeling in the reader. writing haikus is damn difficult. I thought they should be 5 -7 - 5 pattern but..... I am not sure about this. cowboy Dale pure heart i love you.
