Unholy Deal (A Much Needed Sacrifice)

Unholy Deal (A Much Needed Sacrifice)

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Take me into your world of mind-altering abyss

Where the only light that is permitted

Is from the glow of the coals

You so freely rake over my heart.

Sacrifice my inner child at play

With that demonic touch you fancy

Leaving me with the blame of a thousand men

Who walk among the charming.

Sell me a pound of brimstone

Letting me believe it’s the medicine

To cure the infection in my soul

But really spreads the disease to loved ones.

Give me what I ask

In return I give you more

Then what I should.

Let me have what I want

And I will pay you with dirty money.

Grant me one more hour

So I can appreciate borrowed time.

No one matches your full on passion. I can't in words or real life. I am fascinated by it, being ruled by Lord Reason who wld never permit me to be so abandoned in the cause of another. It takes all sorts! I enjoyed this write though, even though I have never and will never be able to be a tenth as passionate you describe here.

I really like this, Dale. It has a grumble and roar to it.

Bitter-sweet, hard-hitting, honest yet subtle lines.. beautiful construction, incredible power.

Gosh, i'm dumb-struck over this one, Dale.. that first stanza almost hits out, giving a strong, strong clue to what the feelings are - ' Is from the glow of the coals // You so freely rake over my heart.'

Going into favourites.

I'll try this one again.

Sell me a pound of brimstone
Letting me believe it's the medicine
To cure the infection in my soul
But really spreads the disease to loved ones.

Let me go to hell and back for the one I love....even if that person is killing me. This has so many implications. I think because I am fighting an addiction that it seems so pronounced to me. During the throws of a craving for that thing I am addicted to, I would sell my body to have just one hit. I think we do that in a co-dependant relationship as well. We know it isn't good for us, yet, we will sell our soul to the devil to have just one more....

One of your best Dale. Great Write!!!
