Journey Of A Lonesome Soul

Journey Of A Lonesome Soul

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Down a long dirt road with

Rocks and holes.

Neverending… destination unknown.

Sunshine offers no relief

To the northern wind chilling the bones.

Weeping willows wave you over

Only to slap you in the face.

A prayer for rain to quench hope

Turns into the nightmare

Of getting stuck in the mud.

Back to pleading for the sun

To burn what’s left of the heart

Till the ashes are scattered along

This endless dirt road.

Every day is the same

On this journey of a lonesome soul.

A sad and lonely exisistence... going down a road where nothing seems to go right. It makes me want to say look for the postivies and the tiny blessings in life! :) But the imagery of the piece is what I think you were shooting for, and that was done quite nicely. We have all had moments like this, but hopefully the journey will have its tough moments, sad moments, good moments and happy moments thrown in.
So that the lonesome soul... would not quite be so lonesome. :)

Very heartfelt and so moving ... I've had my moments of feeling that way, especially when I'm in a sad mood. Wonderfully written, very touching, my sweet friend ... Hugs

When every journey is the same it is time to make a sharp right turn out of the rut...well written Dale, your point is clear...sad, but clear. An endless dirt road is never truly endless, you paint with a vivid palette that which has haunted man since the beginning of time and my take on that is that we should all strive to be in a better frame of mind in the end than we were in the beginning. Not easy, but very achievable.
Cheers,
Helen :-)

The going sure is hard and long when we are on that lonesome road that seemingly never ends. We encounter the problems, the sorrow, the pain, and just continue to drudge along with no end in sight!! Such is the plight of a spirit that aimlessly wanders on in search of happiness!
A sad write, but one that gets the message across!
Good job Dale!

Very moving. I love metaphors. I'm addicted to them myself. Your concepts in this poem are very visceral. Very lovely and beautifully written.
