The Walk

The Walk

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Under the glare of heaven’s beacon

A midnight rose is covered in early morning dew.

This being just the beginning,

Or is it the end

Of life’s miracle bestowed up on you

The day you began to live and die?

Can salvation come to life out of

Yesterday’s dreams,

Or has faith in tomorrow’s nightmares

Become subliminal prayers

Imbedded within the soul?

Now is the time…

         Now it’s do or die

Walk upon the thorns and petals,

If you feel the soft comfort of the rose

You’re already damned and forgotten.

If you bleed

Then you know the Garden of Eden

Is still within reach.

A fantastic write Dale. So full of hope and inspiration. And there is something almost peaceful residing within.
Each of us are give the choice of what to do with our lives. We can reach into our dreams and find our salvation or we can perish and die without ever fully knowing what could have been. You have such insight Dale, and when you put it into verse it becomes a thing of beauty and great value.
Another gem.......

When we become a renewed person, one who is spiritually reborn, we are presented a choice to accept the gift given to us, or to continue to walk under the old guilt, and drudgery of our past life. We may continue to bear the memory of it, or we may embrace the wonderful gift that has been given to us, and give thanks. We make the "WALK" of our own choosing.

As you note, this rebirth often, so very often brings trials to test us, and as you say if we feel the soft comfort of the rose, then we are not growing, we are not being tested, as we have not stepped out in faith, but are in a way holding onto the past.

I see this as a most spiritual write that is full of wisdom, insight, and thought!

The ending is perfect....."If you bleed then you know The Garden of Eden is still within reach."
Through pain comes strength!

really, really good... i am not 'religious' but i think anyone with any belief can walk away with something from this because it is very true... from the day we begin to 'live and die' we submit our prayers for understanding and have our own hope and faith.... this is a simple poem but lovely...each day is 'do or die' it is just the circumstance and intensity level that changes.

thank you for sharing this :)

Nice poem very deep. I understand why each reviewer is moved and touched by the spiritual feel of this poem. Such power and very visual which such few words. What a gift to paint a picture with very few strokes of your pen. Standing "O" Cowboy!

Such a movement through darkness and light, filled with powerful spiritual contrasts. Your imagery is vivid and alive, making this a most profound write. Amazing work...

A briliantly beautiful writing by a very talented individual. You change your genres like you do your jeans. That definitely denotes a creative writer. The known yesterday and the unknow tomorrow. If we learn from yesterdays dreams, some of which may have soured, then we can attain salvation. The dread of the unknown tomorrow, maybe that is why we say bedtime prayers, putting in our requests for the next day or week. To walk upon the lush softness of rose petals could lead one straight down that primrose path of destruction. An occasional thorn keeps us focused, we do not become lulled into that false sense of security if every now and then we have to stop to extract a thorn from a mis-step. It will keep us ever vigil in our travels through life. For something so beautiful to come with a small built in "weapon". Seems like a warning from the creator about just seeking the beautiful and easy way. The path to hell is smooth, wide and easy, the righteous path is strewn with many obsticles, narrow and crooked. If you bleed then you are on the right road, you have to sacrifice. To achieve the Garden of Eden is to have true knowledge.
