Single Red Rose

Single Red Rose

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

She sits there with grace

Like a single red rose

In a bed of white carnantions.

One lonely tear

Trickles down her cheek

Like a raindrop gliding

Down a soft petal.

Does she not see the beauty

Her existence brings

To a world lost in the grey?

Being alone is not the result

Of blending in to this garden

But being a bloom amid permanent buds.

Not yet has she found that suitor

Worthy to smell the classy fragrence

That tickles the nose of humanity.

While all those carnations

Are good for a moment scented pleasure

That single rose is worthy

Of a lifetime of admiration.

Dale, we certainly do see your soft and romantic side in this eloquent write of a lady of grace among a world that perhaps does not accept nor understand her. You have many lovely lines, but I especially like the line about the tear sliding down her cheek like a raindrop falling on the petals!
Very beautiful, and quite endearing!
This goes in my fav's file, as it is always a joy to read of the red rose of love!

This is true beauty and wisdom in this poem, which my words would only mar it. Hoping the woman, inspired this poem, will become aware of herself and accept her true self. Thank you for sharing this very romantic poem with us.

A lady is a rose. This is very loving and beatiful.
It has a peacefulness and grace to it.
Roses are lovely and so is this lady!

I know I've read this before and I even started to review it, but then the power went out and I forgot. Anyway ...

I love this piece. Roses are beautiful. Personally, I'm partial to daisies, though. This reminded me of one of my favorite quotes that goes, "A rose is the crown of your garden, but a daisy is its heart."

This has a soft and graceful tone to it, to match the description of the lady. Very good imagery in this write.

Yes, there is nothing quite the same as a rose, especially a red one...the rose of love. Another gently flowing work of art Dale, I hope you will put your work into book form and publish????? An Anthology perhaps? Anyway from what I have read you could easily do that. (PDF)
You have a keen sense of phrasing and form, through this you have created a unique style that is captivating.
Very nicely presented and easy on the eye.

Really nice stuff Cowboy. "Being alone is not the result-Of blending in to this garden-But being a bloom amid permanent buds." This is wonderful. The metaphore that follows is really good as well. Thanks for sharing, t.

Nice use of imagery and metaphor, bub. Particularly, as another reviewer mentioned, the line about the tear trickling down her cheek compared to a raindrop on a flower petal.

I only say this in parting: careful with analogies to flowers. Even roses die. ;)
